Weslaco, TX
Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church was organized in 1998, and received its first members on Thanksgiving Day in 1998. Pastor Roland H. Gurgel was installed as our first full-time pastor in December of 2005. Shepherd of the Valley exists to proclaim the Word of God as He Himself inspired it. We believe that the whole Bible is the Word of God, and that our Lord has preserved the Truth to us in order that we might be made wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. The congregation subscribes to the Lutheran Confessions as they are found in the Book of Concord of 1580. The congregation is located at 500 South Indiana Street in Weslaco, Texas. Weslaco is in the heart of "winter Texan" country. Many people from the north spend their winter here, including many people from congregations of the Church of the Lutheran Confession. Shepherd of the Valley provides a worship home for them when they are in South Texas for the winter. The congregation is happy to share the blessed Gospel of our Lord with whoever desires to attend our service. Twenty-four members make up the congregation. Services are held at 10 a.m.
