THE MISSION: Jesus said: "Let the little children come to Me. . ." (Mat. 19:14) TVBS' essential mission is to enable congregations to host a Vacation Bible School. TVBS provides two services: flyer distribution and teaching. Flyer distribution teams travel to a location 2-4 weeks prior to VBS week to promote the program and spread the gospel within the community. Flyers include a Gospel message so that the good news is shared even with those who do not attend VBS! Teaching teams work in conjunction with the pastor and local teaching staff to host the VBS. TVBS meets several real needs within our synod. Congregations which desire assistance in staffing a VBS are able to do so with the support from TVBS. Also, TVBS provides the opportunity for meaningful personal evangelism work for any young CLC member who is confirmation through college-age. The TVBS committee, headed by Pastor Paul Tiefel, is now finalizing plans for this summer's program. Another ambitious schedule is being coordinated between dozens of volunteers and the many congregations who will host the flyer and teaching teams which will prepare for and conduct VBS programs for the children of the community. The itinerary this summer includes trips to Phoenix, AZ; Houston, TX; Vernon, BC; Clarkston, WA; Fargo, ND; Stambaugh, MI; Chicago, IL; LaCrosse, WI; Monterey, TN; Atlanta, GA; and Austin, MN. This year, more so than at any previous time, other congregations besides Messiah, Eau Claire, are taking an active role. Immanuel, Mankato, MN, and Messiah, Milwaukee, WI, will be helping to supply teams and other assistance. Please keep the TVBS program in your prayers, asking that the Lord's angels will protect these young people over the thousands of miles that they will be traveling. We also pray that the Holy Spirit will work through His Word in the hearts of all those who will hear of the Savior in the course of the summer. Click on the photo to see the full-size image
